Valérie Butters is a Canadian artist who is from Ottawa, Ontario and studied at the Ottawa School of Art graduating in 2005. She currently lives and works in Pemberton, British Columbia. Her paintings are referred to as - "Fearlessly feminine" (British Vogue) and "Interestingly gaudy and exuberantly messy" (Montreal Gazette). I see a lot of freedom in her paintings. Her art has freedom in practice that I would like to adopt in my work. I love the feel of it. She sometimes paints with the brush at the end of a bamboo pole to help her gain the freedom and expression she wants to achieve. I enjoy watching the short videos she posts on Instagram. You can also find her at these excellent internet venues. Koyman Galleries Saatchi Art Silk Art Gallery There's a great interview with Valérie at Create Magazine .
